Indescribable: 100 Devotions for Kids About God and Science Book Review & Giveaway!

I am always looking for new ways to incorporate God into everyday things for Lemon.  She’s really sensitive to God right now and frequently talks about Heaven. (Partly is because my dad just died and we want her to understand she won’t see him again until she gets to Heaven.)  She wants to go there so bad!  She also loves her “Babble” (Bible) time at bedtime.  Her favorite stories are Noah and the Ark and Daniel and the Lion’s Den.  When I had the opportunity to review this devotional book for kids called Indescribable: 100 Devotions for Kids About God and Science by Louie Giglio (available for purchase here), I was so excited!  This way, we can spend our daily time in God’s word exploring about the world around is and learn how God is in everything.

“The heavens tell the glory of God.  And the skies announce what his hands have made.”

-Psalm 19:1

God is all around us.  The author, Pastor Louie Giglio, invites kids to think about the questions the encounter in day-to-day life and to find God’s glory in creation in Indescribable.  This book shows us the majesty of creation with scientific findings, photography, and illustrations.  With the 100 devotions, we can have an in-depth look at:

  • Space, Galaxies, Planets, and Stars
  • Earth, Geology, Oceans, and Weather
  • Animals—from Hummingbirds to Dinosaurs
  • Our Minds, Bodies, and Imaginations

Each devotion starts off with a little verse for them to learn in Indescribable.  The verse goes greatly with the what the devotion is talking about that day.  Each devotion talks heavily about a certain science thing that your child will learn a new fact.  God is also intertwined in the science lesson/devotional.  When I was reading through the devotions, I was amazed at what new facts I was learning, even as an adult!  It’s amazing at all the little things that God thought of!

There is also a “Be Amazed” section with amazing facts, hands-on activities, and a closing prayer.  This is great to bring God into the world around the child and getting the child involved with each lesson.

Indescribable Inside Book Indescribable Verse

Lemon is a bit too young to fully understand and appreciate this book Indescribable yet.  However, we are planning on homeschooling her, and this is a perfect book for us to use when we start!  I want God to be at the center of everything we do and see, including science.  I am so excited to have this book to read to her nightly when she gets older and have her learn little facts about God and science.
